Women’s yoga retreat

17 - 22 december 2019

hosted by:

Maite Onochie + Jagat Kaur

Join us and embark on a journey to the center of your heart. Through the medicine of kundalini yoga, the wisdom of ancient feminine practices, and the pranic energy of Mama Ocean, we will encounter the Divine Feminine within us and receive her abundance to nurture our lives.

Why Mama Ocean?

The Ocean is the Divine Mother, the giver of life and the great Womb of Consciousness. As such, She is our Master. A mentor. Our original birthplace. From her, we emerged. Each woman embodies within her the potential for creation and expansion, what we call the Adhi Shakti Energy. Like waves in the ocean, the source of this energy dwells in the depths of our being, and transcends our ego to empower us to bring forth life, not only in childbirth, but likewise through all intentions to which we set our gaze. With Mama Ocean as our muse, we will wade into the depths of our being through experiences which will allow us to embody the sacred waters of the second chakra - the waters of self-love, the feminine energy. We will connect to our creative feminine power so that we conceive, gestate and bring to light our true nature, and our deepest intentions.

In this retreat you will be accompanied by an intimate circle of women. We will gather in Playa Dominical (Costa Rica) on the last days of the year, as the winter solstice approaches, signifying the end of the solar cycle, and the beginning of a new one; a symbolic time to come together with other women in ceremony.

This unique experience will combine Jagat's ryes yoga style and Maite's puro amor yoga, creating a yoguic practice purely for women, by women. Through morning sadhanas, mantras, meditation, pranayama techniques, expressive movement, womb wisdom rituals, and evening ceremonies, you will access your truth, value, courage, inner will and wisdom. All while communing daily with Mama Ocean, a short walk from our studio, with her rustic beaches, mountain rivers and the jungle forest surrounding us all.

Let us join in communion, uncovering the profound depths within ourselves, healing that which needs healing, and nurturing that which must be. Let us see with clear eyes and embody what we will bring to form in 2020 (and beyond).

Retreat Dynamics

17 -22 december 2019

Who is the retreat created for?

Mama Ocean is created for women who want to dive deep into yogic practices and the embodiment of ancient feminine expressions.

Mama Ocean is a calling to women who want to unravel the gems within them, and be supported to bring them to the surface and into manifestation. Women who desire to bring life to something in 2020, whether it be a child or a grand vision.

Whether you are a beginner ready to expand your yoga practice and knowledge, or an advanced yoga practitioner, this retreat is for you. Each one of us will enter this experience at our own level of readiness. Jagat Kaur

Mother, wife, artist. Creator and teacher of ryes yoga

Yoga saved my life. Yoga means “union,” and it is through union that I have been able to look within and discover devotion, inner will and self-love. I dedicate myself to share this passion with others, to empower women to awaken and manifest their inner self, and live in harmony with their calling.

I am the mother of a beautiful baby boy and the wife of a wonderful man.I was born in Medellín and remain a Colombian at heart. For the past 14 years I have travelled the world learning and teaching various styles of yoga, from Power Yoga and Integral Yoga, to Hatha and Kundalini. It is through these philosophies and experiences that I created ryes yoga. Breathe; enjoy the beauty of everyday-life, and be at peace with your mind, body and spirit. This is my offering to you. Maite Onochie

Yoga Teacher, Full Spectrum Doula, Womb Energy Worker

After 15 years of working internationally as a social anthropologist specialised in early childhood development and childrearing, a deep heart-knowing took me on a profound pilgrimage, from my heart into the depths of my womb. This was partly ignited by a set of miscarriages that affected me significantly and became another source for deeper awakening. It was then that I realised the need to bring more mindfulness to my menstrual cycle as part of my spiritual practice, to attune to this cyclical wisdom and the imminent need to re-inhabit our bodies and in doing so, the potentiality in ending cycles of suffering and violence.

Today, I weave the ancient practices of the yogic tradition, my background as birthworker and the latest science that supports and reaffirms the ancient ways of returning to the body through intentional breathwork, expressive movement, prayer and intention. I long to continue to support women to explore, dive deep and access the inner wisdom that enables One to live in joy, liberation, pure presence and radical pleasure.

one more thing! your participation in mama ocean retreat will contribute towards reforestation in costa rica

As part of Seva (in Sanskrit “selfless service”), we are called to ensure our spiritual growth goes hand in hand with supporting and improving our greater communities. So know that some of proceeds from your Mama Ocean Retreat fee will go towards planting a Tree in Costa Rica, with Community Carbon Trees . This is crucial to help offset carbon dioxide from our lifestyle in a reliable and transparent way. By planting trees not only will you be contributing towards protecting biological corridors with food & homes for animals and birds, but you will also helping protect water sources, rivers and ultimately also the vast Oceans.

Rainforest trees near the Equator regulate global climate for all of us. That’s why it’s CRUCIAL to give back to the Earth by planting diverse trees with Community Carbon Trees. Every sponsorship pays local men and women to care for your tree on their own farm, from seed to forest.

So THANK YOU for leaving a lasting legacy for future generations while building resilient communities of empowered women and men.
